The Arcteryx Atom LT Pants are a light, insulated pant that are ideal for use in really cold conditions. Either as a mid layer or as an outer layer, depending on just how cold and damp it is. They may be too warm for faster paced activity, but if you're on an alpine pitch and need that extra warmth, then they are perfect.
The pants use Coreloft synthetic insulation, that is very compressible and light, but expands very quickly when unpacked. The Tyono 20 is a light and soft outer fabric that benefits from a DWR finish, allowing the pants to easily shed snow and light rain.
The Atom LT Pants come with fully separating zips, which allows them to be put on easily, while reducing the danger of damage from heavy boots and crampons. The zips are backed up with laminated windflaps for extra protection. When you're on the move making those high steps, the articulation through the knees and seat ensures that your movement is unrestricted. The pants also cleverly stow away in their own hanging pocket, for easy storage in your pack.

Customer Reviews of Arcteryx Atom LT Pant (Winter 18)
These pants are pretty good but not perfect. Personally, I bought them for urban use. Specifically, for going to town or travelling to & from a social event without having to change my trousers from winters to summers! Buses are warm, being in the weather over winter isn't; venues are & so on. These over-trousers are highly wind-resistant, ditto water as well as being lined; having a full-length zip means no need to remove shoes to put on/take off as well. For this, they are perfect. Especially as the warmth isn't down-based, meaning there's no danger of it wetting-out.
However, whilst they do have an internal pocket, they also have labels on the interior of the waistband, both front & rear which is kind of annoying. More so though, is the lack of a draw-string - the waist elastic is set at one tension so if you're wearing a bulky belt or change sizes much during the life of this garment, there's no scope for adjustment.
These last two points clarify how these pants could be improved.
But seriously, they're still very good, comfortable & quiet (minimal rustle). It's just for the price, they really could have done that little bit better...
Perfect! At last I have found what I have been looking for. I wanted some comfortable warm trousers for winter camping and these fit the bill. My problem was I also wanted warm trousers for quickly putting on over my regular winter walking gear when I have stopped to take photos. So they had to be of small pack size, light weight, fit over winter boots and crampons, as well as being comfortable to wear. These pants do it all for me. They unzip all the way so are easy to put on on over my winter kit. They stuff into the pocket sewn in to the inside. Shed snow for fun, but are also non rustle and comfortable to wear back at camp. The quality is excellent as I would expect from Arcteryx. I've even found myself hanging out in them in the house as they are so comfortable, although a bit on the warm side for indoors! I bought these trousers with winter Scotland in mind. I walk winter Munros, and wild camp in winter. As a keen landscape photographer, I can be stationary for some time at dawn and dusk, waiting for the perfect light.
Delivery was quick, and packaged well. Best price I could find, and with the points reward scheme, Facewest is becoming my first choice supplier of quality outdoor gear.
A fantastic pair of lightweight trousers, ideal for wearing as a mid layer under ski shell trousers.
Very comfortable materials, very breathable and light enough to put into your backpack when it gets warm.Buy them.
