Base Layers

Merino Wool or Synthetic? You need both in your clothing system, it depends what you are doing that day.

See below for pro's and con's of Wool vs Synthetic.
Merino Wool Base Layers
Synthetic Base Layers

Merino Wool Base Layers
Merino wool garments are exceptionally warm and comfortable. Wool is 80% as warm when it is wet as when dry. It wicks reasonably well and is non shrink, non itch and machine washable.
Wool base layers are ideal for cold environments and stop/start winter activities (like skiing and climbing). Put an end to being warm when skiing but cold on the lift.

Synthetic Base Layers
Synthetic thermals wick sweat away from the skin and are incredibly fast drying. This makes them ideal for aerobic activities and 3 season adventures. They are very hard wearing, non shrink and machine washable.
Synthetic thermals are great for all sports and activities in all but the coldest months of the year
