The Mountain Equipment Changabang is a state of the art all-round mountain jacket. The remarkable Pro Shell Fabric is lighter, tougher and more breathable than GORE-TEX® XCR but just as water and windproof. The Changabang will hold its own whether you're fighting your way up the spindrift of Point 5, shredding powder on the Pas de Chevre or gnarling up Lockwood's Chimney in the pouring rain.
The Changabang uses a shorter climbers cut so as not to interfere with a harness, plus great freedom of arm movement for reaching above you without riding up. 4 large pockets on the front of the jacket plus a ski pass arm pocket make the Changabang very user friendly.

Mountain Equipment Changabang Jacket Review
Reviewer: Alasdair, edinburgh (20-11-2009)
I bought the Changabang jacket mainly for winter use in either Scotland or the Alps. As you would expect, the jacket is well made and certainly functions well as a strudy waterproof. The four front pockets are large and easily accessible. There's also a small pocket on the arm for GPS/phone, although I found it a bit small for my GPS.
The fit offers good freedom of movement but I'd say the arms are a tad too long and the body a tad too short, even for a climbing style jacket. The snow-skirt is a useful feature but I found it was a bit too high up.

I bought this in replacement of my old Bergans rain jacket and also with the aim of extending its range of application to the winter-period since this nice jacket has an integrated snow skirt.
I'm very lucky with this product: it has a perfectly adjustable and fitting hood, a high collar (which is quite important for me for weather protection), good ventilation, water repellent zips and integrated emergency whistle.
Moreover the manufacturing of the Gore Tex Pro Shell comes out with an extremely low-weight product, which is very comfortable to wear.
The only deficiency from my point of view is the lacking length - it's just 2-3 cm cut too shortly.

Mountain Equipment Changabang Jacket Review

Overall, very pleased with this jacket (medium red).
Bought this prior to a trip to Scotland for some Scottish Winter and have also used it in the Swiss Alps.
Pros: Reasonably light, packed with features. Gore-tex proshell is a noticeable improvement on my old Patagonia Gore-Tex; the water-repellency is much impreoved keeping the jacket lighter and less damp-feeling. Ski pass pocket handy for stashing cash for chair lifts, etc. Hood is plenty large enough to wear over my climbing helmet, good solid feel to the jacket.
Cons: Hood hard to tighten down in absence of helmet; it keeps loosening itself. One of the tabs for tightening the sleeves started to tear, but fixed this with superglue.
