The Marmot Mountain Down is our most weatherproof down jacket. It features a two layer waterproof MemBrain outer which is also breathable. This helps the jacket avoid the most common problem associated with down insulation - its propensity to wet out in the rain. Since down has almost no insulating value once it's wet this greatly increases the usability of the jacket in changeable weather conditions. The jacket also features a laminated snowskirt to prevent spindrift ingress which can lead to jackets wetting out from the inside as it melts. This is a great jacket for mountaineering in marine climates like Scotland or Alaska or as a down jacket for multi-day ski-touring where you can't risk losing your insulation piece to the damp.
