Wild Country Classic Rock Set
£70.00
The Wild Country Classic Rocks are the definitive piece of passive climbing protection. Now only available as a set of 1-10 having been superseded by the new Anodised Rock on Wire (see Related Pages).
The Classic Rock Set is ideal for beginners, as it is the basis of any Trad climbing rack at a competitive price. The Classic Rock is an unanodised wired nut with the time-honoured curved designed giving a variety of gear placements from each size in the range covering crack sizes (see Size Chart below).
The Classic Rock has Wild Country's proven curved nut head design, this gives greater holding power by triangulating the forces on the nut in a placement due to having three points of contact (see diagram). This increases the holding power of the nut, makes it less likely to swivel out and easier to place.

Wild Country Classic Rock Set Review

Simple passive protection at a good price. Not sure why we have to have technicolour anodising to know what size bit of metal to put in a crack in the rock - these bad boys have always done a great job, in my experience. Keep it simple, steer clear of the pretty colours and save yourself some money!

Cheap and cheerful, need I say more?
Well I will, because that could suggest that these aren’t good - but they are, they amongst the best. They may look uncool in their simple form however function is certainly the name of the game here.
These nuts hold tight and the heads, being made of a quality alloy are hardwearing. The wires do have a tendency to resemble the shape of any slight angle they may encounter, however this is surely usual for nuts under tension (when being used as anchor points for example).
These were purchased for my first trad rack and I can honestly say I am well pleased. Not as tarty as the DMM's or other coloured pieces but they certainly do as good a job. Only downside is that the lettering/sizes are stamped on the heads which do wear, however it takes quite some time to achieve this!

A great first set of nuts for a great price!
I opted for the coloured versions as they are slightly lighter and also match DMM's Wallnuts in colour and size. However they are a good bit more expensive.
These ones will take a lot more abuse and are probably better for a starter rack or a winter trad rack. Slightly different shape to DMM's wallnuts as they dont have the concave that the wallnuts do, but if you get a set of each you cant go wrong!
These are the best for the price though really!

An excellent set of nuts that make a good core for any trad leading rack. Mine have been used on 1000+ routes over the years.
The newer coloured versions are a bit lighter, and the colours do make nut selection slightly easier, but this older style can be bought at quite a discount, which has got to be a win when building up your first lead rack!
