A very small stone that you can take anywhere. Ideal for sharpening knives in the field. You must be careful because it is not easy to grasp the stone and sharpen at the same time. Nor is it easy to keep the sharpening angle. Okay for sharpening a knife you use very much, but I don't recommend it for a collectible knife.

This is a handy little sharpening stone which works very well. I've used it with great success on penknives and a Leatherman and also kitchen knives! As another reviewer has mentioned, one concern is that it's quite small and so can be a little fiddly to use - something that you need to be careful of when handling sharp implements! It's maybe best taken when you're away and need to give something a quick sharpen.

This silica stone is a bit on the rough side, wouldn't really use it on my small pocket knives unless I would be reprofiling the edge, or they would be very very dull, but, as it is, it can achieve a working edge very fast, providing the knife is quite dull. I tried it on some kitchen knives, which we all know how they are treated. . . and it produced a good working edge in less than 3 minutes. It was easily slicing paper. So I left in a kitchen drawer, to quickly touch up those knives when needed. It may become smoother in time, as most stones do, and then be able to produce a bit more polished edge. Anyway, for quick touch ups of dull knives, this works.

Got this one as an extra on a leatherman and have used it on a couple of my other knives. This works like a charm, and it is what you want to have in your pack for longer hikes. It does not weigh that much and is small, so perfect for travelling. It can however be a bit small for large knives.

I've got this grinding stone with the buying of a Leatherman Raptor. I have previously worked as a chef and thus have used a variety of abrasive tools. This model is a handy small size, it is easy to take in your pocket for outdoor life and DIY tasks. It is not very coarse in structure, but as an all around grindstone is really good. I have it now in use in my work as a paramedic and is good at keeping my leatherman raptor sharp.

You can pay a lot for a knife but it is of little value if it is not sharpe. I received the Whitby sharpening stones free with my leatherman rebars. Although I have not needed to use it on them yet. I have however used it on my Leatherman wave and some of the household knives, worked well. Not a lot you can say on a sharpening stone review other than it does what it is designed for. A good product.

It's a sharpening stone. And it's small enough to keep in your pocket if you're on a longer trip and might need to sharpen your trusty knife on the road. I've tried some pocket sharpeners, but I'd still choose a stone over them any day.
