The Trab FreeRando is light and efficient touring ski with plenty of downhill performance. 79mm is wide-ish for a dedicated touring ski and just a touch narrower than your average backcountry ski. The Duo Freerando skis much more nicely than it's 1220g weight would suggest. Trab are the masters of getting the best performance for the weight of the ski. Tested by Stu in Scotland at the end of last season and highly recommended.

A touring ski with capability to cross over into backcountry skiing. Trab are famous for their Touring skis. The FreeRando is firmly at the "downhill friendly" end of the touring ski spectrum ( We don't sell the full race touring versions which are much lighter but very unfriendly on the down-hills).

We give this 1 stars. Far too light.
Backcountry:
3 stars. A good downhill capable touring ski. Will be appreciated by those who favour a lightweight ski. Most skiers in the backcountry category would probably want something fatter, but if you want a ski optimised for touring then it'll still be acceptable in this category.
Touring:
5 stars. A great choice. Light enough to climb well and still enjoy then down. A great choice for hut to hut trips like the Haute Route.
