The Thermarest Ridge Rest is a classic. It took a simple closed cell foam mat and added a technical 3D shape to get the most out of the foam. The ridges add comfort while the valleys trap warm air. The Ridge Rest is super durable and will take years of abuse. It is for those who are willing to sacrifice comfort for the lightest mat possible. The upside to the Ridge Rest's technical but straight forward construction is that it is also excellent value.

If you've ever had the misfortune of repairing a 'leaky' Thermarest Prolite in the middle of the night then this could be for you! It's cheap, reliable, light and warm.
The only downside is packability, either strap it to the outside of your pack, or use the mat as a pack liner and stuff all your gear inside it, this works a treat for stabilizing and giving shape to medium sized frameless ultralight packs e.g Golite Jam2.
5 stars even allowing for bulkiness!

I wanted a sleeping pad that could endure long nights by the camp fire with no risk of getting a leak. The ridge rest offered a god weight-to-insulation ratio and therefore became my choice. The ridges makes a good anti-slip surface, and creates small air pockets underneath my sleeping that makes the insulation even better. They even make spilling coffee a little bit less messy :) My only complaint about this sleeping pad is that it wears down relatively fast.
