The Thermarest NeoAir AirTap allows you to convert any dry bag into a NeoAir pump bag, you could also use a plastic bag. All you need do is pierce the bottom of the bag with tip and attach the valve coupler. Then fill the bag with air, seal the top and squeeze. The cap ensures that any dry bag used will remain waterproof (probably).
The advantage of using any pump to inflate a NeoAir is that it reduces the amount of moisture entering the mat, if you use your mouth you blow lots of moisture in, this prevents the mattress from working to the best of it's ability.

Expensive for what it is, but invaluable. I chucked the clear plastic bag which came with it - what you're buying is essentially a squeeze-bag/'schnozzle'-type pump bag kit. The AirTap itself has a flexible tube outlet, which fits pretty well all old-fashioned screw-in valves, as used by Thermarest/Big Agnes & so on *and* crucially, an inlet that exactly fits the outlet of an Exped Pillow Pump. Together, pumping perfection plus a really decent pillow. Came with the usual speedy Facewest service.
I bought this because I don't like the idea of having to blow myself silly whilst I inflate my new NeoAir - a particularly unpleasant task at the end of a long day of walking when all you want is to get into your tent and make a nice cuppa in comfort and warmth.
The AirTap doesn't look much at all, but it does the job well: it inflates my NeoAir quickly and with ease. What isn't entirely clear when you buy the AirTap is that it's supplied with a big poly bag which is used as the pump element, I had the impression I was going to have to use a large dry bag. The poly bag works well, although I'm not sure how long it will last - I'm quite certain that the main gubbins of the AirTap will last a long time.
It's lightweight, and when stored away in a little ziplock poly bag, spends the rest of it's life squeezed into the NeoAir storage bag.
I'd considered the small electric pump that Thermarest(?) manufacture, but this is much cheaper - and the batteries will never run out!
A good bit of kit, I'm well pleased!
I originally bought the NeoAir XLite overseas (excellent by the way!) and the electric air pump to go with it. That works very well and is surprisingly effective, BUT if you're away from civilisation for more than a couple of days then you don't really want to rely on the batteries (or anything electrical really) and as lightweight as that is, this is much lighter! This is such a simple solution, but works well with the bag provided as well as stuff sacs. I plan (if I ever get round to it) to convert a lightweight 30ltr drysac I've got - should still keep stuff dry inside once I've put the valve on - the cap is a good fit. If you're going to spend money on a Thermarest it seems silly not to spend just a little extra and use some kind of pump so as not to blow moisture in.
I'm an all season camper and recently bought a Thermarest NeoAir all season, I purchased the NeoAir tap to accompany the mat not expecting much really, but this thing works a treat, virtually silent and can be used with any poly bag or air tight stuff sack, I would recommend this product to any one, I wont get let down by batteries or motors.
What a fantastic product! No more purple face or dizziness. Just 2 bagfuls of fresh air (moisture free) and my NeoAir mat was comfortable inflated. I had planned to adapt a neoprene coated stuff sac for long term use, but the plastic bag supplied with the AirTap seemed very strong, worked perfectly and should be adequate for the time being. The weight including plastic bag? A shade under 2oz. Well done Thermarest.
