4 Suunto Foot Pod Mini Review

Very small and light - barely noticeable once fitted. Clip worked fine with regular laces, but could not accommodate larger Xtenex elastic laces. Initially over-read considerably (nearly 20%), but once calibrated was pretty accurate in my experience, although I tend to run steady pace on a paved surface, probably the optimum conditions a foot pod. Once fitted/calibrated, it can be just forgotten - pace feedback and measurement is instant, a massive improvement over the GPS pod, which in Suunto favour at least didn't work well in an urban environment, very slow / reluctant to lock, and lots of spurious readings. Accuracy wise, the foot pod 0.2 miles out over a marathon which involved some unplanned walking - perfectly adequate in my book.

Sadly however, I've had a problem with it popping out of the cage. The first time on a sprint finish, and was recovered, then it got zip tied in, then I changed shoes and it seemed snug so I left it - the second time I was not so lucky. So I'll be buying another. If you're on Suunto kit, it's far and away the best option for running, particularly in the city.
