The Cadence POD allows you to see and record your RPM whilst riding. It is much less fatiguing to pedal at 85+ rpm in a lower gear than 60 rpm in a high gear and is one of the goals of an improving cyclist. The Cadance POD attaches to the seat tube of your bike and a magnet is attached to your pedal arm. The information is then wirelessly transmitted to your watch.

The Cadence POD is only compatible with the T3c, T4c and T6c; T3d, T4d and T6d and the M5. It is not backwards compatible with the original T3, T4 and T6 nor with the other T and M series watches.

This is a great addition for me as I have a speedo/distance unit on my bike that doesn't do cadence. With the addition of this pod I now have cadence too which is essential for any cyclist who wants to improve performance on the bike. It pairs with watch easily enough (took 2 trys) and since paired my T4d has always picked it up straight away. Of course to be useful you have to be able to see the cadence readout on the watch so I use a generic bike watch mount (rubber thing that fits over the handlebar) so that I can always see the cadence readout. I suppose in an ideal world you would have it all in one unit but I quite like having watch and speedo on the bars - loads of information in front of me on different screens, which I think is preferable to one big unit.

The cadence pod is a useful addition to a cycling set up if you're a Suunto user (though the bike pod to measure speed & distance is likely to be your first priority). The product feels slightly lightweight compared to most Suunto products (it's actually made by Mavic rather than Suunto I think), but that hasn't caused any problems yet. Set up was OK, though required quite a few attempts of removing battery / short circuit / replace battery / pair to pair successfully. Once paired it works great. Note you need a c or d series watch for cadence pods.
