Although marketed for 'extreme' use in the desert, etc. I think this hat is great for more general use on hot Summer days in the UK. Walking, and especially climbing, the back of the neck takes quite a beating from the sun.
If you are doing long climbs then the removable flap can also be cunningly attached to the back of your climbing helmet! I tried this climbing in the Alps in 35C heat, and it worked a treat.

Ran with this in the 2010 Marathon des Sables. Did the job but two slight reservations. The neck flap doesn't extend that far round your head (I ran with the arms of my sunnies over the side and tucked the neck-flap down into a buff and it was still only 80% of what I wanted). Also, about a third of the runners were in one - it makes you quite anonymous-looking and hard to pick out! Not that the latter matters too much...
