The Rab Photon Jacket is an insulated layering piece that offers fast warmth and weather resistance when needed. It packs away into it's own internal chest pocket and takes up little room, but when on a windy belay, or if the temperature drops whilst walking in the mountains the Photon jacket can be pulled on quickly providing that extra warmth.

Primaloft Eco insulation through out offers incredible warmth for it's weight. Primaloft Eco is a performance insulation offering superior warmth, water resistance, loft, softness and compressibility. Keeping the body warm, dry and comfortable, even in extreme conditions.

Pertex Microlight outer fabric is a midwieight fabric in the Pertex range. A windproof and very durable fabric that has excellent levels of breathability whilst keeping the overall weight of the jacket to a minimum. The Pertex Quantum liner not only offers a soft luxurious feel but allows the insulation to loft that little bit more.

I purchased this jacket for wearing on stops between hiking, or when pitching my tent. Great for throwing on over the top of damp or wet shells. Instant warmth. Great hood and pockets. The zipped inside pocket is useful for valuables, and the entire jacket stuffs down inside the pocket. 10/10.

I purchased this jacket to have something light and packable while going out for photography trips in cold weather. So far, the jacket seems great, very comfortable and warm – just as stated in the description. I really love its packed size, as it fits very well in my backpack, next to some baselayers and photo gear. The hood is nice and large, too, providing extra warmth in those long periods of waiting for good light. The first impression is that the outer shell feels a bit fragile. However, I always intended to use this jacket under a hardshell, so I’m not that worried about that. Overall, I think it’s a very nice bit of kit.

This is my second Photon, when I lost the first one after a couple of winters use I purchased this one right away. It is super light and very warm, and packs down small in its own built in stuff sac. While not as warm as a full on duvet jacket I find this to be an advantage plus being Primaloft is not adversely affected if it gets a bit damp. If you are looking for a belay jacket for a windy crag or something to wear round town when its f cold this versatile jacket will fit the bill.
