Rab Generator Vest is a great insulated layering piece. In milder conditions it can be used as an outer layer and in harsher weather as a mid layer under a shell jacket providing core body warmth. When not needed it packs neatly away into its chest pocket, perfect for the weight conscious adventure racer, ski tourer and lightweight backpacker.

The lightweight Pertex Quantum outer fabric offers excellent wind resistance and with its DWR finish will turn light precipitation and shed snow. Primaloft One insulation ensures excellent warmth for such a lightweight vest. Primaloft is also treated to ensure that it repels water, so if the jacket does get wet the insulation will keep working. Synthetic filled jackets are particularly well suited to cold and wet conditions. Though not as warm as down, they still work when wet.

A super light, packable insulation layer. Good DWR keeps the odd shower at bay, stays warm even when wet though and dries fast. I throw this in my climbing sack to put on when belaying or for lunch breaks, or it gets chucked in my Camelbak when I'm out on the bike so I can put on at a lunch stop or in the beer garden for the post ride pint, also used bivying as it's perfect under your hard shell when your sat round the stove. If you get one you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.
