The Rab Endurance Down Mitts are ideal at altitude or in the polar regions providing warmth and comfort in extremely cold conditions. With reinforced rand on the fingers to provide abrasion protection they are a pretty tough pair of gloves.
Filled with high quality European goose down within a light and durable water resistant Pertex Endurance shell they have a wide opening for easy access even with liner gloves. An internal elasticated cuff will keep the warmth in and the single hand drawcord can be cinched up for further protection from the elements.

Bought this to keep me warm while hunting the Northern Lights, i.e. standing around for hours at minus 15 to minus 20 degrees. For this use these are great, easy to pull on and off for quick access to the camera and quick to re-warm the hands. Not so sure how useful they would be for any sort of hands-on "work" in the cold but for just walking or being stationary they are great.
I have suffered with cold hands for years ( white fingers ) but on our recent trip to Switzerland in temperatures of -4C to -8C these mitts kept my hands warm and NO white fingers, they are just what I have wanted for years. Great.
Tested the mitts by -30 in Finnish Lapland. My hands were never cold, this is a great product. I recommend having a thin liner glove underneath the mitts to protect the hands while the mitts are off (for tasks requiring dexterity). The mitts fit well over my down jacket thanks to large opening, didn't have to use the draw cord. They go up about half-way between my wrist and elbow. They come with a string that you can tie around your wrist, so that when you take the mitts off, they dangle below, instead of being on the ground - this is definitely handy ! I read other reviews complaining that the mitt is essentially held in place by an internal elastic around the wrist. While this could indeed allow the mitt to slide, I think having anything else (like a strap) would create a cold spot. The mitt never slipped from my hands. In fact, I realised that if I pushed my hand too far in, the tip of my fingers would touch the bottom of the mitt and there would be a cold spot. So in my opinion the internal elastic does a good job at keeping your hand loose inside the mitt, exactly at a the right spot. By making a "sweeping" motion with your hand, you can shift down between the "hand" or "forearm" section of the mitt, which is great to regulate temperature.
