The Princeton Tec Apex has a 3 watt Maxbright LED and 4 ultrabright small LEDs to offer a penetrating narrow beam of 85m and a wide angle proximity light of 14m.
At Facewest we think this is the brightest LED headlamp that we have tested, although on constant full power (85m beam) the batteries will be drained in 1 hour.
Princeton Tec headlamps have a regulated power output. Please see below for further explaination.
Princeton Tec have quoted unregulated burn times for their lamps so they can be compared to other non regulated brands of headlamp but because their lamps ARE regulated there are another set of burn times which is what you will actually acheive.
The true burn times have been used here but have not been used on Princeton Tec's website or many other retail site's pages. It is not possible to have a 56m beam run for 72 hours on 4 AA batteries! Although the burn times are drastically reduced for regulated LEDs it should be remembered that the light output will not dim significantly, where as unregulated LEDs gradually dim over time.
