I now have two sizes of this flask and take soup/stew to work with me every day. I mostly find it very effective and easy to use, as long as the food is absolutely piping hot when it goes in, and you have stood the flask with boiling water in it for 5 - 10 mins before putting the food in. Then the food is a good temperature for lunchtime, and the flask itself seems tough and sturdy. A good purchase.

I was surprised at its size (3.5L) when it arrived but it took a packet of noodles with sauce and cooked chicken and the lid screwed down tight. In a backpack I marched up into the Cheviot hills on a very windy day and was surprised when after a couple of hours I sheltered behind a cairn and opened the jug and it was hot food and quite a lot of it too from the small container.

Now a regular in my backpack and sea kayak for trips, easy to rinse out and I suspect food would keep warmer longer if not blown on by a freezing cold wind for hours.

The small size works well as you don't really want to have space inside it - it is more efficient when full - I filled mine to the brim. If sharing food it would probably be better going for the 5L one.

What a fantastic product! I already own an Omnifuel stove and a Eta power pot and have been very impressed by general Primus built quality and product design. This follows along those lines. A cool matt black finish with an easy screw lid and perfect seal. It looks good, feels like it would take a reasonable beating and doesn't leak. I use it for making my porridge to take into work. Having now got it I would say that it is good value for money although thanks to Facewest's points system I ordered this product for free - BONUS!!

Last year I did a lot of backcountry snowboarding and with no chalet around you must carry your food with you. And when you are exposed for many hours to extremely cold conditions there is nothing better than a hot meal. Or at least a meal that is not completely frozen. So I bought the Primus Vacuum Lunch Jug and after one year I can say I am happy with it. It kept my meal warm even after four or five hours. But for better results make sure your lunch contains a lot of liquid (soup etc).It is also nicely made and lightweight.
