Pod Airstream Lite Compression Sack
£13.99
The Pod Airstream Lite Compression Sack is the perfect compression sack, it's very light and very tough - being made from waterproof, taped Cordura with an eVent panel the air can be squeezed out easily making it very compressible.
Essentially this is a dry bag with a compression spider lid, but is really easy to use simply stuff your clothing or sleeping bag in, and as the dry top closure is rolled down the air in the sack is expelled through the air permeable eVent panel, then tighten everything up using the side compression cords.

Pod Airstream Lite Compression Sack Review

I bought this larger size for my winter sleeping bag after buying the smaller one for my summer bag in the summer for my cycling holiday in Germany. It rained heavily for a few days, my down sleeping bag survived in this lightweight waterproof compression sack. I like the fact that it has 2 quick release buckles and the other 2 are secured; this stops the cords tangling. Also has the rollover top like other waterproof bags plus a lid to secure it all together with the straps.
My sleeping bag came with a waterproof sack, but this is far better as you can squeeze out a lot of the air from the bag. You can also kneel on the compression sack whilst done up and air will escape from the bottom of the sack. Things I like about this sack is that it is waterproof, lightweight; if you need to be counting the grams you carry then this is ideal. You can keep the bag round or compress it flat while tightening the straps so that it fits into your backpack, pannier or wherever you need to put it. I've also used the compression sack for my down and fleece jackets and again works well.

As I've said in a previous review for the Pod Airstream Lite Drysac, I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of Pod, especially their Airstream Lite range. I simply love them! The unique feature is patently the eVent base, which allows you to expel all the air and compress the contents down using the cords - not those annoying straps on other brands.
Indeed, only one other brand uses the eVent technology, and whilst it is very good, the Pod Airstream Lite Compression Sack is not only better value for money but it's thinner and lighter. I have the large version for my fleece and there's still room for other bulky items.
Whatever item needs the air squashing out of it, whether it's a jacket or a sleeping bag, you're covered by the wide selection of sizes. The different colours mean that you can easily organise gear and quickly identify the contents whilst also making make huge space savings.
Not many compression sacks can so effectively, if at all, incorporate good compression and imperviousness to water and dust, whilst at the same time offering excellent value for money. Why go for any other compression sack when you can have the Pod Airstream Lite Compression Sack? They're my first choice.

I bought the small size of the Pod Aisrstream Lite Compression sack for my PHD Midwinter down jacket, which fits very comfortably with hood fitted and a spare buff and light gloves. The compression system is excellent, with the cords holding well (and much lighter than webbing straps). The compression buckles are 2 releasable and 2 fixed; this means you can semi-detach the lid and avoid the fuss of getting entangled and then sorting out the 'knitting' in a dark tent. Orange colour is highly visible - very easy to find your warm gear when delving into your pack!

I puchased both the Small and Medium sacs for down sleeping bags. The Small is perfect for a lightweight Summer bag with 300g of down. The Medium easily swallows my 3 season bag with 550g of down and I've also used it to stuff both mine and my partner's Summer bags together. The eVent base works well, you can hear the air whooshing out as you tighten the compression cords. I've been using the Small sac for a year and so far there are no signs of damage or water ingress. An excellent product without the weight penalty of other waterproof compression sacs.

I ordered the Medium P0D Compression Sack to use with my ALPKIT 800, I could get the bag into the compression sack and fold the bag over twice but not 3 times, meaning that it would come undone and wouldn’t be water tight. Fortunately for me my friend has the pipe dream 600 which fits snugly so he has taken the medium bag off my hands. I have since ordered the large compression sack which I’m sure will fit very well. With the cord compression system I will be able to compress it even more.
Excellent communication and delivery, as always from facewest.

Okay it’s hard to get excited about a dry sack.
However for me it has been an essential purchase. A few months back I went wild camping and ending up in torrential rain for most of the day. Although I have a rain cover for my rucksack the water had pooled at the bottom and leaked into my rucksack only to be greedily absorbed by my ME down sleeping bag! Much sobbing and a miserable night later I vowed get a waterproof bag for my sleeping bag.
This sack is great. With the compression cords I can get my sleeping bag smaller than in its own bag. The dry sack is of a good quality and design. Excellent product for my requirements.
