Platypus Big Zip SL

The Platypus Big Zip SL is an ingeniously engineered hydration bladder which combines many of Platypus's most advanced features. The SL in the name is short for Slide Lock and refers to the bladder's slide topped ziplock closure. This is a great alternative to screw closures as it is both more robust and far easy to open, as well as providing a large opening for filling and cleaning.
The Big Zip SL is ideal for cyclists and runners thanks to its ergonomic angled bite valve, which also contains a lockoff to prevent your bladder emptying itself all over the boot of your car. Finally the Big Zip SL includes Platypus's unique quick disconnect system which allows for the bladder to be removed from your pack for filling without untangling the hydration tube. This is one of our most popular hydration bladders and definitely one of the best.

I have had this reservoir (in 3L size) for over a year, under heavy use for mountain biking and other outdoor activities. The product is simply brilliant - detachable tube, BPA free, lightweight (but durable), no plastic taste, and what is the most important, never ever leaks! I've had couple of Camelbak reservoirs before this (incl. the latest Omega) and will not go back.

The 2 Litre BigZip fits my Golite Ion and GoLite Rush perfectly. Easy to clean, decent flow rate and belt and braces failsafe seal system. Easy disconnect hose so you don't have to remove it from pack when re-filling.
Wide mouth at top for easy filling. Clear plastic so you you always know how much water you've got left, 90degree bite valve is handy as well.
This is my 1st Platypus and on this evidence I will not be going back to camelbak! Can't find fault with it. 5 stars !

I purchased this bladder a few weeks ago now to go in my bike pack & long distance run pack. It is a great piece of kit the seal on the top is excellent & very secure. The easy removal of the drinking tube is useful for cleaning & doesn’t get in the way when filling the bladder.
Even though it’s quite a large bladder (3 liters) for running you don’t have to fill it all the way up & if you invert it & bleed out the air it doesn’t slosh around at all.
The only minor niggle with it is that the material that the bladder is made from seems a little thin but how it will stand up to wear and tear time will tell. Over all I am very happy with it.

It's been a while since I had a Platypus, and this model is light years ahead of the models from 5 or 6 years ago.
The zip access is great compared to the old screw cap, and the clip adds extra peace of mind. Will be trying it next weekend for the 1st time, but I expect this to become a firm favourite - especially when cleaning it afterwards!
