Petzl Ascension
£45.00
The Petzl Ascension has been proven over 30 years with a few modifications becoming the bench mark for handled ascenders and is a necessity on fixed ropes. The Ascension's comfortable rubber grips provide a secure handle ensuring confidence while pulling on the ascender.
The trigger to open the Ascension is located in a recess on the inside of the frame preventing accidental opening. The rope gripping cam has been designed so it slides easily along the rope causing a minimum amount of wear. And the teeth are angled to grip the rope in icy, wet and muddy conditions. The big-waller, mountaineer or caver should never leave home without the Ascension.

Petzl SRG Ascension Review
Reviewer: Nick Smith, Sheffield (5-10-2010)
Just what you need if you're doing a lot of rope ascending - infinitely better than a prussik (!) although of course a lot heavier and more expensive. The handle is comfortable, and the teeth don't seem to unduly damage the rope.
I use one (along with a GriGri) for ascending static ropes while taking photographs of climbers.
