Petzl Meteor III+

The Petzl Meteor III+ is an ultralight climbing helmet that has superb ventilation and is the ideal cragging helmet, but a helmet with a neat little twist. Petzl took the ever popular Meteor III, adjusted the straps and buckle, resulting in the Meteor III+ meeting European standards for cycling and whitewater sports.
Weighing in at only 235g you hardly notice you're wearing a helmet. Inside the expanded polystyrene foam liner ensures protection top and side. While the helmet is held secure by the adjustable cradle to the rear of the helmet and by and adjustable chin strap. A foam insert ensures comfort, and the whole thing is topped by a polycarbonate external shell
The Meteor III+ is comaptible with the Petzl Vizion face shield. This can easily be attached to the helmet providing extra protection from shattered ice and spindrift.
If you're intending to use a helmet where you may encounter frequent minor rock falls and generally more knocks, then we would recommend a helmet with a polycarbonate shell such as the Petzl Ecrin Roc.

Amazing helmet, absolutely no cons to it. Great for all climbing, summer trad, alpine and winter. Super light! I always forget I’ve got it on after about 5 mins. So I usually either close my pack up and realise something is missing, or get into the car and realise its sill on my head!
Fits over a beanie hat with no problems, and under all the hoods of my mountain jackets, no hassle. Also hold a head torch well too.

I've used this helmet for climbing over the last few months, and have been extremely happy with it. It is super lightweight, and well-ventilated, and you almost forget you are wearing it. Despite being very light, it seems pretty robust. It is easily adjustable and compatible with a liner or hat. Sometimes after a long time the plastic at the back of the cradle presses on the back of my skull a little, but that might just be my bony head. I doubt there's a better 3 season helmet out there.

Amazing helmet, so light compared to my ten years worth of full shell ones and seems robust enough to handle most types of climbing.
Have used it over a range of stuff, from cragging in the peak, multipitch in Spain and it never felt too hot or sweaty, which is a real positive I think. I also used it in winter a fair bit and it has no fitting problems with a hat under it.
Basically I cant see how you can go wrong with this helmet at all, especially now the range has increased to cycling/canoeing. I suppose you 'might' want a harder shell one, but you know what you are getting into when buying it so that isn’t really a negative at all!

Excellent helmet, very lightweight, I have used it for climbing and also night mountain biking as my Petzl headtorch fits it well and remains securely fastened. Fits my head fine with plenty of adjustment.
I don't know if it will wear as well as other hard shell helmets but its not that different in construction to my MTB helmets and they have all lasted well when looked after.
