The Petzl Laser Sonic Ice Screw features a unique rotating hanger which makes it one of the easiest screws on the market to wind into position and reduces the chances of dropping the screw. Once the screw is established in the ice simply crank on the hanger until it is fully placed. You can even place this screw with it already clipped in to a rope or sling as the hanger rotates freely even with a crab attached.

The Laser Sonic used to have a reputation for being a pain to rack as the hangers tended to catch and snag on each other if clipped racked on crabs. To solve this Petzl now include an Ice flute racking tube which can be clipped to your harness for quick and easy access, plus giving your screw threads maximum protection. The Petzl Laser Sonics are an unusual but superb ice screw and an excellent choice for the committed icefall climber.
