The Petzl Hirundos is an astonishingly light harness with enough performance for all climbing uses. Originally developed for high-end sport climbing, Petzl have now added four large gear loops to the hirundos to turn this into a truly versatile harness. The Frame Construction minimises heavy webbing and allows the waist belt and leg loops to be incredibly breathable and comfortable.
This is an ideal harness for most modern climbers. Not the best choice for beginners gnarling their way up chimneys or for the high-wear environment of big walls but for cragging, lightweight alpinism and mountain rock this harness is superb.
Petzl Hirundos Harness Features:
- Frame Construction with breathable monofilament mesh evenly distributes pressure
- Woven polyester mesh on the inside of the harness wicks moisture for improved comfort and speeds drying in wet conditions
- Perforated closed cell foam on the waistbelt and leg loops increases breathability
- DoubleBack buckle is pre-threaded and adjusts quickly with a single pull
- Green belay loop helps users identify proper tie-in /
- Reinforced tie-in points for increased durability
- Elasticized leg loops have a large range of expansion for correct fit
- Rigid, inclined 3D front equipment loops for easy access to gear; flexible rear loops stay out of the way while wearing a pack
- Detachable elastic leg loop straps

I bought this for both cragging and ice/alpine climbing, as it is so light. It's nice and simple, easier to put on than my BD Couloir and fits better. The main waistbelt is just padded enough to be comfortable and the leg loops stretch enough to go over two layers but are snug enough with just one. It's a bit silvery in colour, but a few ground falls should fix that.

An excellent harness - I bought one to replace my old BD Alpine Bod harness - the Petzl is actually considerably lighter then the Bod due to the mesh construction and the very small buckle used. Primarily designed for sports climbing I have used mine for adventure/trad climbing, Alpine and Scottish winter.
It is so comfortable that I frequently forget I am wearing it and start driving home with it still on.
I would recommend the winter gear-racking carabiners (available separately)for it, which can make racking large amounts of gear particularly easy.

Bought this as a super light harness for pushing my sport climbing. Its really light and surprisingly comfortable for falling in, despite its minimal appearance. Has everything it needs, in the right places, with nothing it doesn't. No sales gimmicks on this harness.
The mesh construction, means that you don't get as sweaty too, when your out in warmer climates. It's such a good harness, that I now use it for virtually everything, sport, trad and winter. Amazing all round harness, for a great price!

Brilliant harness, super lightweight, super technical, super priced!
Bought this for sport climbing, with the hope that it would be super light and allow me a really nice freedom of movement. It does what it says! Its super light, I almost forget I’m wearing it most of the time! The gear loops are really well placed for nabbing quickdraws off them and are at a great height to ensure you're not stretching or moving awkwardly to retrieve your quickdraws.
The price is amazing to me, for what this provides!
