Petzl Charlet Aztar Axe
£105.00
Mountaineering
and Icefall Axe for all grades except extreme water ice. The
Aztar is a versatile ice tool for mountainnering and icefall climbing. The forged
pick is thin and shaped for optimized penetration in hard ice. The shaft, curved
at the head allows hooking and comfortable placement. The base of the shaft is
straight and has a steel point for easier penetration even in hard snow. A great
all round technical axe for Scotland or Chamonix. Weight:
590 g per axe Shaft Length 50cm Shaft Rating 'T' Pick - Blueice 'B'
rated Fixed hammer and Adze Replaceable Picks Freelock leashes as

is also a lighter version of the Aztar called the Aztarex. The
Aztars come with the stronger 'T' rated shaft which is better for torquing and
extreme use but the B rated pick. This is because a full T rated pick is thicker
and causes the ice to shatter while the thinner B rated picks cuts into the ice
better. The axes come supplied with the B rated blueice picks but the stronger
T rated Quattro pick is available as a spare if torquing is more your thing. Please
call us if you would you like the T rated picks. Special
Offer: Buy two of these axes and save £10. (£200 for a pair).
