The Ortovox Peak 42 is a great touring pack with a low weight and a nice ski carrying system. The specially designed hip belt and the ergonomic, S-shaped shoulder belts assure that the load is transferred optimally to the pelvic bones and that the shoulder musculature is relieved. The "O-FLEX-FRAME" is a 3-D back system that is flexible and can be individually adjusted. So the pack carries without wagging back and forth and offers freedom of movement when descending or climbing. At the same time, it provides optimum ventilation.

The Ortovox Peak 42 is a very well thought out bag and a good choice for hut to hut ski touring. At 42 litres it is a bit more spacious than the minimum 30 Litres for hut to hut touring and this ease of packing will appeal to many users who tire of cramming their stuff in each day, especially if the weather is good.

This pack is an ideal size for hut to hut touring and collapses down really well for use as a day pack. The front zip provides easy access to your shovel and probe and it accommodates a hydration bladder and tube. There are tags on the front to attach axes or poles but there isn't anywhere to tuck the head of the axe out of the way on lifts.

Its really comfortable, lightweight and there are effective retainers on all the loose straps to prevent them flapping in the wind. The only negative is the thinness of the fabric over the front pocket which is easily damaged but overall it’s a fantastic pack.
