Mountain Equipment Womens Valdez Jacket Review
Reviewer: Lindsay Newton, Basingstoke (5-11-2011)
Perfect. I wanted a durable waterproof jacket suitable for all year round wear and suitably versatile from mountain biking, hill walking, climbing and skiing. It’s closely fitted with really roomy arms for unrestricted movement. The hood fits well and I love the peak. I haven't found any negatives yet but I have only had it a few weeks. Bring on the rain!

Mountain Equipment Womens Valdez Jacket Review

I work for an unnamed outdoor retailer who fail to purchase good women’s clothing so find the need to go back to my good old trusty facewest to solve the problem.
The problem:
My gf needed a winter climbing jacket that would also be light enough for year round climbing/biking/anything use and was also good enough for skiing or snowboarding. Then we saw this perfect solution. A good clean cut, perfect for wearing a harness for climbing days, reasonably low back to protect the bum on walking days. Integrated removable snow skirt for snow-sport powder days and a more than ample helmet hood for all activities.
The fabric is perfect, soft where you need it but a higher denier where you know you will experience a great deal of friction and rub from rucksacks, ropes etc. Good useable zip even with gloves, something a lot of folk don’t remember to check when getting a jacket. The cuff adjusters are good and sticky and can be used with clumpy gloves, same with the hood adjusters.
Altogether it is a very well thought out jacket, I would expect nothing less from Mountain Equipment.
So far my partner has had it up the hills walking in the horrific Scottish summer/autumn weather and it feels perfect.
Neither of us can wait for winter. And trust me, I care. As the more protected she is from the elements, The less moaning I hear. ;)
