The Mountain Equipment Vega Jacket is a lightweight down jacket designed for technical winter and expedition alpinism. It is cut shorter than average for a down jacket to allow for access to a climbing harness. If you've got designs on Baffin big-walls or the Trango towers then this is the jacket for you.

With it's lightweight, water resistant Drilite Loft shell and 750 fill power down filling the ME Vega is great for keeping you warm, but not weighed down. The Mountain Equipment Vega Jacket is also ideal for carrying as an insulation piece for lightweight bivis, ski-touring or as back-up insulation for alpine use.

I have a down jacket from Mountain Equipement without hood, in blue colour with black elbow pads, and I have got much use out of it because I use it in the city and also at mountain corridors. But sometimes, I missed a hood, when it’s very cold, almost at northern corridors where you stay waiting at climbing meetings and you keep frozen. The Vega model with hood, is fantastic for me. It’s a little more notching and it has Drilite finished for the snow. I keep in love with the down, they are lovely. This jacket has minimum weight and takes up little space in the backpack. Just one inconvenient, as every good things, its price a little expensive. But like a friend of mine says "the poors buy twice" .
