The Pittards leather palm ensures durability and good grip, and the Gore-Tex insert keeps the glove dry and little features like hanging loops and one handed closure make the Pinnacle glove a joy to use. The Mountain Equipment Pinnacle glove is a top end glove to use anywhere at any time of the year.

First things first. These gloves are warm. Very warm! I have a problem with poor circulation to my fingers and they readily go completely numb with even a slight chill in the air. So I decided to pay £85 for these which is quite a bit of dosh to me. Well worth it though. Took them with me Saturday 18 September to do Scafell Pike (Corridor Route - great day). I had travelled 250 miles on my Kawasaki ZZR 1100 to get up there. On that journey I wore my usual average quality bike gloves and got suitably cold and numb.

I put the Pinnacle's on at about 2,700 feet when it was starting to get chilly and immediately warmed up. The gloves, once on, are quite "chunky" but cozy as Hell! I wouldn't want to have to thread a needle with them on but for grabbing rocks and the like they leave your hands with plenty of flexibility. The long "cuff" is great and comes well up your arm to cover your jacket although as I was on my own I found tightening up the cuff a challenge! On the summit it was cold but it was easy for the gloves. I'm sure they would stand up to much more of a challenge than Scafell Pike mid September!

On the way back I decided to wear the Pinnacles instead of my motorbike gloves because the weather was atrocious. Serious wind and rain on the Sunday and I had 250 miles to cover. They were incredible. Warm and waterproof. Any bikers out there know that these conditions can be tough on your hands but mine were 100% all the way. So for me, they're not just my Mountain gloves, they're my Bike gloves now too!

Only one small criticism; I think they should have made the leather palm "pad" longer so that it covers more of the "heel" of your palm. I had a mild stumble on the descent and grabbed a rock to support me and the material that joins the leather pad to make the cuff tore slightly. This would not have happened if the leather had covered a bit more over the palm and up the wrist an inch or so. But that is my only negative design comment. Everything else is great. £85 well spent.
