I've not had a chance to wear this out on the hill yet, but its same fabric as other ME clothes, so should be ok. It is defintely windproof, but the arm zips and ventilated pockets mean it can be work in the heat as well.
The fit is tricky - i have always worn a medium in ME clothing, but this was far too tight and i had to switch up to a large to get a really nice and flexible jacket to wear over other layers (i have no idea what ME were thinking with the sizing, as it's at least one size too small!). Overall, a good looking and light softshell with a typical technical cut if you can get the sizing correct.
I originally bought the jacket in medium based on an existing ME Orbital, but found the sizing was smaller (tight in the torso & sleeves 2 inches too short) so eventually changed to size large (5' 11", 40" chest, 78kg, gibbon arms, and run hot).
This is an excellent medium weight jacket - the fabric is very stretchy so particularly good for scrambling, and it has proved very robust after several months of hard use. Weather protection is very good - it holds off a surprising amount of wind driven rain and breathes better and dries faster than a powershield softshell jacket I have. It's very protective when fully closed up, covering the neck and chin very well, thought I haven't tried the hood with a helmet yet. Pit zips are very easy to open/close when wearing a pack, and I find work very well in muggy, rainy weather.
Used this jacket for a week course at Glenmore lodge this jacket performed perfectly in high winds with in the Cairngorms. The chest pocket could have been a little bigger but doesn't effect its quality and comfort, the rest of the pockets proved to be a perfect size. I also found the side vents very useful on steep ground as I run warm. The cut of the jacket is fantastic I didn't at any point feel that it had ridden up behind my back even on a big overnight stay. I would rate this jacket highly to people that are usually run warm as I only used this and a base layer for the majority of my weeks training. Five star.
