The Mountain Equipment Kongur Jacket has always been known as the best jacket out there for the worst of the winter storms a mountaineer can endure. This season new improved fabrics and the Stratum storage system ensures that the Kongur retains it's position as the top.

The Gore-Tex Pro Shell Ascendor II fabric provides maximum protection from the wind and rain with it's longer mountain cut. This is backed up by tougher Gore-Tex Tenacity over the shoulders providing greater wear resistance. The Stratum pockets are the 4 chest pockets, the 2 Napoleon pockets are truly massive and are A4 sized, so maps and guide books are easily stored away from the elements.

Mountain Equipment took the Kongur jacket and have further developed it in consultation with Mountain Rescue Teams and are able to offer the Kongur MRT, please see related products below.

I purchased this jacket for everything! Walking, Ski Touring, Climbing and general waterproof outer shell.

My previous jacket had a snow skirt and I tried the Changabang on (similar jacket with snow skirt) but for some reason it was tight across the shoulders. I have found the fit of this one perfect. It is longer than most tech climbing jackets but I find you can flip it on its self if wearing it with a harness and its not too bulky. The zips and the pockets are great, very big, perfect position and you get a free whistle!

Best of all, ME hood system! It really does turn with your head!
Would def recommend.

Reviewer: Mark Borland, London   (11-1-2011)

I'm on my second Kongur jacket in 4 years now and the new XCR one was great to start with. As before it's a great waterproof and keeps everything that should stay out where it belongs. But after half a winter season and some early season skiing at Xmas, the hem and hood drawstrings don't hold and the cuff tighteners have both snapped off. A great jacket, but the poor finishing is letting the brand down.
