The Mountain Equipment Cascade Xtrafit is an innovative winter climbing glove which is built around a new Gore-Tex bonding technology. The outer of the glove is bonded directly to the Gore-Tex insert meaning that the glove cannot move or slip in-use. This gives superb feel and grip when handling axes.

The palms of these gloves are constructed from incredibly grippy and hard-wearing Pittards leather offering plenty of dexterity and grip for placing gear. These are fantastic gloves for icefall and mixed climbing in all but the very coldest conditions. A great Scottish winter glove, especially combined with an over-mitt for belays.

I've used these gloves a few times in Scottish winter walking/climbing and so far been very impressed. They aren't the warmest glove, but they are super dexterous with a very grippy palm and fingers. I've not needed to take them off for most fiddly tasks like threading crampon straps/buckles. I wear them over Smartwool glove liners and Marmot wrist gaiters and have found my hands stay warm and comfortable.

These gloves were very useful to me during ice climbing in Maltatal, Austria. A perfect fit and no wet hands from cold ice-water. I would recommend them to anyone who ice climbs. For those who need knuckle-protection this is probably not the right pair of gloves.
