The Mountain Equipment Alpine Gaiter is ME's classic mountain gaiter, ideal for deep snow or wet conditions, and is sized on standard leather trekking boots. If you plan to use it on big mountain boots you will have to use one size up.

It is made from 3-Layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell fabric for extended comfort and breathability as you walk or climb, keeping your lower leg comfortable. This is a fantastic choice for winter walking and alpine climbing.

I'm very impressed with the quality of these gaiters now that Mountain Equipment have sorted out the rogue batch with faulty stud fasteners. These are comfortable and appear built to last. They are quite close fitting, but this suits me fine. They stay in place well, although the lace hooks keep coming unhooked for me. Nearly 5 stars - an alternative front fixing would make these perfect.

I had to buy these because while I was out Ice climbing my £60 Berghaus gaiters snapped. These are far superior made, much stronger, lighter and the look better. They can be a pain to put on when iced up but that’s the same with any other gaiter so can’t complain about it. I’ve used these on about 10 long ice climbing trips and there is a small rip from where I caught with the crampons but still in working order with a bit of Gafa tape.
