The Saturn Crash Pad is the
largest in the Moon Climbing series, a pretty huge crash pad. Measuring 160 x
120 x 11cm you would have to try NOT to land on it. 11cm of foam made of two layers
of different densisties make for massive impact absorbtion and durability. The
Saturn folds burrito style (no hinge) which means no weak spot for you to land
on and fastens with 2 anodised aluminium hooks. The Saturn has briefcase handles
along one edge to help move it from problem to problem and rucksack straps to
carry it long distances.The other advantage of the burrito system is that when
folded the damp dirty surface of the map is inside not on your back. When not
in use the rucksack straps are concealed under a large flap which velcros down.
The flap can be seen (bottom right) in the top photo. The flap also has a small
zipped pocket for essentials. A well thought out system.
