The Marmot Womens Scree is a functional stretch pant for all year use in the mountains and hills with Marmot's excellent womens specific fit. In the warmer months they are fine on their own but as the weather turns colder they are ideal to use as part as a layering system.
The slightly looser fit of the Scree makes these more suitable for walking and scrambling rather than climbing. But it's this looser fit that lends these pants to be used as either an outer or midlayer in the colder months.

Marmot Womens Scree Pant Review

Gift for the girlfriend, as I was so impressed with the men's version and the women's version hasn't disappointed! Excellent multi-use trousers. Lightweight, really hard wearing and very comfortable, even when used with a climbing harness. Zipped pockets stop important things falling out! Will take a bit of moisture too, and if they do get wet they quickly. Warm, even when wet with some wind-blowing. Look quite good (for a pair of walking trousers!). Great value for money.

Just back from holiday in Scotland, where I wore my Screes most of the time on the West Highland Way and elsewhere. I found them significantly more comfortable than my old, non-stretchy walking trousers. I missed having leg pockets big enough for an OS map (but they probably wouldn't work anyway in stretch fabric), the black fabric can get uncomfortably hot in direct sun, and for my use the zip and drawstring at the bottom of the legs is just pointless clutter.
I also took a pair of Rab Treklites, which are very similar; they lack the zip/drawstring clutter and have a neat clip-on-a-tape in one pocket to store keys more securely, but their leg pocket opens at the side instead of the top (which I prefer) and - the biggest difference - fabric is clumsier. Niggles apart, the Screes win easily and I'm very pleased with them.

I used the Scree pants for a 7 day high alpine ski tour, the Route Haute, in April 2010. It's a very thin trouser, I wore it as base layer while skiing / touring after skiing I wore it in the evenings in the huts, too.
First I wasn't really convinced, I feared that the trouser might not be too thin (we had -20 C some days) - but it worked well, and I was never cold on the legs. The stretchy material is nice and comfortable to wear and the pockets have zips, which I find very useful. The cuffs fit well over ski trousers. As waterproof layer I used the RAB Bergen pants with full side zip, which I recommend as well.
