Marmot Variant Jacket Review

At first I was hesitant about the usefulness of this garment. It is a new concept and has finally convinced me. Ideal for climbing in winter. Great lightness and freedom of movement in the arms, while at the same time it protects the front of the torso. You do not pass too hot in movement, the back and arms have a lightweight fabric. At the belay the filling gives you a pleasant heat. Very good for climbing in snow and ice and bring it under the third layer. It is also ideal for climbing in windy days of spring, in which the Sun appears and disappears constantly after the clouds.

Great all purpose fleece with windstopper front. I used it skiing in -30C (with an assortment of other layers) and it worked really well. Also good for general use in milder weather.

Best jacket I've owned. Light and warm, great as a midlayer in winter or as outer layer in autumn.

An excellent hybrid jacket that takes the edge off the cold in autumn, best as a layering piece for winter. I was unsure about buying one of these as I was not sure whether as a concept, that it was better just to wear an insulated vest over a fleece.
After having worn this for a number of times on recent cold and windy nights I am won over. It comes into its own on the bike, as the front also gives you a fair degree of wind protection as well as ventilation for back and underarms to stop you overheating. The fit is also 'athletic' and quite flattering.
