The Marmot Vapor Trail ½ Zip is a superb lightweight breathable softshell that breathes fantastically well, yet provides protection from the weather when you need it most. It's styled for the active person that requires fit and flexibility and works particularly well for the climber and mountain walker who are carrying backpacks.

The Vapor Trail is constructed from two soft shell fabrics. On the front of the body and sleeves the fabric is windproof and less breathable, providing warmth and protection. The side panels and back are a breathable fabric, allowing you to keep a stable temperature and shift unwanted moisture away from your body. This is particularly good if you're carrying a heavy pack and are working hard. This softshell is unusual in that it has a short chest zip, but this does allow for additional venting and for the Vapor Trail to also be used as a mid-layer when conditions are really cold.

I purchased the Marmot Vapor Trail ½ zip top as I wanted something, aside a my trusty Craghopper fleece, to keep me warm but not bulky on my cycle into work every day, as I set off at 7:00 in the morning it can be quite nippy and the Marmot has proven to be an extremely worthwhile bit of kit as it’ll keep you protected from wind and the odd shower, and if on my return journey the weather has warmed up it’ll pack away into my backpack without filling it up, which my fleece does.

I've also used it when out trail running and again its such a great top, so light you hardly know you’ve got it on, the extremely breathable panel at the back works rather well when your carrying a backpack or hydration pack as you don’t get to claggy in the back area, the front zip is also great and the wide opening makes it very easy to put on, also if you get a little warm you can unzip for ventilation. All in all this is one of my favourite articles of clothing and I wouldn’t hesitate in ordering another when I’ve worn it out.
