The Marmot Spire Jacket is an all season shell able to withstand the harshest weather and still keep you dry. An ideal outer shell for ski tourers, winter mountaineers and winter walkers.
The Spire is a highly durable performance 3 layer GORE-TEX jacket, with fully taped seams; it is designed to be layered over the top of a fleece or softshell. It has a laminated wire rimmed Gale Force hood, which is big enough to fit over a helmet. The Spire jacket has PitZips and two chest pockets that can act as vents when you are working hard. There is a removable Powder Skirt integrated into the Spire jacket meaning it is a versatile shell that is great for skiing.

An excellent jacket for all conditions. I have owned a spire for 3 years now and it has not failed me yet, I wear mine on a day to day basis and in extreme conditions on the hill. it has a great hood that will fit over my climbing helmet and does not restrict my view. it is very breathable and the pit zips are great if you feel yourself getting to warm. I would defiantly buy another marmot when I need to replace this one which hopefully wont be any time soon.

This is great jacket, great fabric, great high collar and large but not too big adjustable hood. Good pockets. Good snow skirt. But this jacket is relative short so at least with my long back this jacket was too short, but the snowskirt (when engaged) will help holding the jacket in place when lifting hands up.

I recently climbed Cevedale in Italy and thank God I had this jacket! It's totally windproof, waterproof and does exactly what it says it does.
It can be a bit loud with movement but I think this is the same with any 3L jacket. I really like the construction too, totally stealth and bombproof.
