The Marmot Powerstretch Half Zip Top is a versatile fleece made from Polartec Powerstretch. With it's 4-way stretch allowing for great flexibility and it's close knit giving it good levels of wind resistance Powerstretch is an ideal fabric for the active.
The Half Zip PS Top is an ideal mid layer top, with the powerstretch fabric fitting snugly over a base layer, this body hugging top is very breathable. The PS top also works well as part of a layering system from being a baselayer for Scottish winter mountaineering or winter alpinism, to being a throw on fleece for when the wind picks up on summer walks.

Marmot Powerstretch Half Zip Top Review

I brought it - loved the feel, great top love PowerStrecth.
I returned it as it was to big for me – I’m 5'5 and the small was just a little wide unless I developed some bingo wings.
Was really disappointed it didn’t fit as it is a great top. Have since got a different fitting PowerStretch and the material is warm, cosy and wicks well.

The Marmot Powerstretch top must be one of the best pieces of clothing I have bought. It is very warm and comfortable with its close but stretchy fit. The long arms and high neck are also a really good feature. I wear this layered with a merino base layer and windshirt in all but the coldest weather in Scotland. I also bought one for my son to take on a Himalaya expedition and it has become a favourite of his.

This is a great mid layer or apres ski top. SO comfy you wont want to take it off. The Powerstretch material is like marshmallow soft, spongy like. Yet doesn't ever wet out or get smelly either.
Since owning this top, I have bought more Powerstretch clothing. I love Polartec fabrics now, they keep you warm and dry. I wore this over a compression top and under a soft shell jacket. No problem in the Alps, never felt cold at all or too hot.
Other reviewers mentioned the sizing, well I would usually get medium in everything and medium in this is fine on me, top length and sleeve length ok too.

Purchased for use as a midlayer between a merino baselayer and a Haglöfs LIM Barrier Pullover. As a size guide I'm 6' 3" with 38" chest and long arms and a Medium fits me well. The cut is reasonably generous rather than sporty, though it's by no means voluminous/boxy. No thumb loops unlike some rival products but the sleeves are reasonably long. The collar is a decent 6cm tall, but would be great if it was even taller for us human giraffes. Would also be great if Facewest/manufacturers provided more measurements info - here the back length (and front length due to the symmetric cut) of a Medium is 66cm. The Powerstretch material is soft to the touch but takes a little bit of getting used to. Compared with an old 100% polyester midlayer fleece of a rival brand (which produces horrible static between layers - no such problems with Powerstretch) the difference between the two is night and day. Recommended.

After looking for powerstretch tops both in the high street & online I ordered this Marmot top from Facewest a couple of months ago and am very happy indeed with it.
I find it comfortable, warm & light. It feels & looks much nicer than conventional fleece garments. It is worth noting that Marmot's sizes are perhaps a little more generous than European manufacturers. I am 6' tall & fairly slim and found that the Small was right for me. Best to order both sizes as I did & return the one you don't need.
