The Marmot Midweight Crew Neck LS is a superb Polartec Power Dry with Cocona baselayer with excellent wicking properties for skiing and winter climbing. Being slightly thicker than a summer baselayer the Midweight Crew Neck is perfect for low aerobic activities in all conditions.

Combine the Marmot Midweight Crew Neck LS with a mid-weight softshell and an all weather hardshell and you'll have a brilliant winter climbing setup with the versatility for ski touring, winter walking and a range of activities in all conditions.

Cocona Technology

Marmot's baselayer range utilises innovative new Cocona technology. Cocona is an activated charcoal made from baking coconut husks. The majority of the product is used to make the inserts in water filters but the fine residue waste product is incorporated into the polyester resin and drawn to produce yarn.

Benefits of Cocona:

  • Twice as fast drying as a standard polyester baselayer fabric – massive yarn surface area at a microscopic level created by the activated charcoal element of the yarn
  • Naturally odour controlling for the life of the garment – it works through adsorption of odour molecules – and can be rejuvenated through washing or tumble drying
  • Environmentally responsible - no applied treatments, chemicals or metals and utilisation of a waste product from another process

Marmot Midweight Crew Neck Long Sleeve, has soft finish, good quality flat seams, good length at sleeves to the wrists, without tag at neck it is really comfy warm base layer.

Slightly thicker than a lightweight version. Perfect for low activity sports in all conditions.

It’s almost as warm as a thin sweatshirt so I found it to be warm enough wearing alone as a winter baselayer under softshell jacket on the move in colder weather and not as great for warmer weather. In that case the sleeves will be rolled up quickly.

Because of Cocona technology it doesn’t stink and it stays relatively fresh smelling even after a few days of use so in that case odour is not the reason to wash it as often.

I bought one of these to try as a winter baselayer last winter, found it to be excellent, warm enough to wear most of the time in winter with only a Gore-tex jacket or Paramo jacket when on the move. I have now bought a second one to ensure I always have one available. I am a member of an MR Team and SARDA and rely on good gear, this top works well for me, warm, stays dry enough and dries quickly when wet.
