Product Description:
The Marmot Mica Jacket is an award winning new ultralight membrane jacket which weighs in at just 198g. This makes it the lightest ever membrane jacket that offers a level of comfort and breathability not previously available in a superlight shell. This is a superb jacket for adventure racers, runners and anyone who likes their gear as light as possible.
Marmot have been able to produce this jacket at such a low weight thanks to their new MemBrain Strata 2.5 layer fabric. This features a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and a breathability comparable to Gore-tex. The membrane is protected by a thin laminate coating meaning that no liner or 3-layer construction is necessary, this is what allows the Mica to be so light.
Stu's Comment:
The Marmot Mica is awesome. Tiny and light with good breathability and a great price. One word of caution though, the Mica fabric is really thin, almost paper like. This jacket is the lightest of the light but durability has been sacrificed to achieve this. Just be sure that's the right choice for you. I would hesitate to take this jacket on a long trip into the high fells with a bad forecast but would use it just about everywhere else.

Marmot Mica Jacket Review
Reviewer: Andy Ashton, Chester (14-6-2010)
The material of this jacket is fabulous. Very breathable ( almost like pertex) and definitely waterproof.
I was up at 3000 ft on the LAMM this year in the lashing rain and my top half was dry when the bottom half was soaked. Sure, I was damp but then you always are when you are working hard.
The hood is a bit annoying but you can fix that with a strip of Velcro stuck on the inside of the label then you can roll the hood inwards and use the hood adjuster as a retainer. For not doing this, and a slightly odd cut, only 4 stars. However, at this price, the size, the weight the waterproofness and the breathablity make it a great buy.

Marmot Mica Jacket Review
Reviewer: J Ash, London (12-5-2010)
Certainly very light and breathable but I have doubts about its waterproofness in heavy conditions.
On only the third time of wearing it wetted out on me. Admittedly the rain was very, very heavy but I was only in it for 30 minutes. As the jacket was still very new the DWR coating should have been in good enough shape to handle that, but no.
The cut of the jacket is excellent and the 'angel wing' design of the arms allows you to reach above your head without pulling out of a climbing harness.
The hood, on the other hand, is rather annoying. The Velcro adjusters are not strong enough to keep it in place when you are moving and you end up with the overly floppy visor blocking your view.
Similarly the Velcro cuff adjusters are badly placed and weak. I do not have thin wrists at all but found it impossible to get a tight enough fit which lead to water flowing in when my arms were raised.
The pockets are obstructed when wearing a rucksack hip belt.
If I had been doing as much trail running as planned I would have kept this jacket but in the end it was not a strong enough all-rounder so I sold it.
Facewest comment; The Mica is essentially a light trail running jacket. For climbing or for an all round jacket we would recommend something more substantial.
