Marmot Essence Pant

The Marmot Essence Pant is the lightest waterproof shell pant that we could find. They weigh an amazing 181g and pack down so small that they take up the minimum of room in your pack or waist pouch. These are ideal for adventure racing and the super light backpacker or alpine climber, though the compromise may be durability.
Made from Marmots proprietary Membrain Strata Light fabric, 2.5 layer lamination with a ultra light 12 denier nylon face fabric. It is totally waterproof and very breathable, maintaining comfort as you work hard. This features a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and a breathability comparable to Gore-tex. The membrane is protected by a thin laminate coating meaning that no liner or 3-layer construction is necessary.
