The Marker F12 backcountry binding is a touring binding aimed at heavier and more aggressive skiers who feel that the Duke and Baron are overkill for them. The F12 and the F10 (see related products below) are effectively the same binding, but the F12 has a DIN up to 12 (The F10 only goes up to 10).

Updated for Winter 2011 the finger tab to change mode has been redesigned and the toe piece rollers have been replaced by anti friction plates.

The Marker F12 is basically a lightweight version of the Marker Duke. It uses lighter materials and construction techniques. The F12 requires (like the other Marker touring bindings) you to take your boot out of the binding to change from touring to ski mode. This is a good security feature for those worried about going into tour mode inadvertently. However it means you can't change modes quickly on rolling terrain.

The F12 has a 2 position heel lifter which raises the heel either 60 or 90mm compared to the toe, this is located under the binding so would not be easy to adjust whilst moving.

The Marker F12 is more suited to agressive resort skiers who want touring capability rather than tourers who use the lifts a bit. However it does offer very good security for a touring binding and is a good choice for the backcountry skier who likes to go hard.

Brakes: The following Marker brake sizes are available: 85mm, 92mm, 110mm, 132mm. When you add the bindings to basket you will be asked what size you want. It is best to use the narrowest brake which fits your ski waist. Eg if you ski is 89mm wide then pick the 92mm brake.
