The Mammut Parinaco Jacket is an updated version of last year's Chalten, one of the most innovative garments to come onto the market since the invention of Gore Tex. The source of this innovation is Schoeller's new C_Change fabric, a breathable membrane fabric which reacts to the temperature and your activity level to keep you comfortable whatever the day brings. This makes for probably the most durable shell we've ever stocked as the C_Change face fabric has an almost soft-shell like feel. This makes it ideal for winter climbers and skiers/boarders who want a jacket which can stand up to a bit of knocking about and still keep you warm and dry.

Combine the performance of C_Change with a helmet compatible hood and a mid-length cut and you have a seriously versatile garment. Ceramic dot reinforcement protects high wear areas for climbers and mountaineers. The Parinaco is ideal for early season ski tourers and mountaineers where conditions and activity level can vary wildly through the day but who need warmth, breathability and weatherproofing.

C_Change Fabric

Essentially the C_Change fabric features a vapour-permeable membrane whose pores change size depending on temperature. What this means is that when you're generating a lot of heat or on warmer days the pores open up and the jacket breathes exceptionally well keeping you cool. On cooler days the pores close up ensuring that you don't cool down to much. The pores never completely close so this is always a comfortably breathable fabric.
