The Mammut Base Jump Advanced Pants are a fantastic climbing and walking pant made from popular Schoeller soft shell fabric. The reasons for Schoeller's popularity are simple, it is immensely comfortable to wear, windproof and breathes superbly. Add in a carefully designed climbers' cut and you have a superb choice for alpinism, winter climbing, multipitch rock climbing and year-round walking. In short this is a versatile, comfortable pant for year round use.
Schoeller Stretch is the number one fabric for softshell trousers. It is super tough, exceptionally breathable and offers tremendous freedom of movement thanks to its multidirectional stretch. The addition of Schoeller Keprotec patches at the ankles to prevent crampon damage only adds to the design of a trouser that will last you for many years to come.

These were a present for my husband, I bought him some similar trousers a few years ago. We do a lot of walking, our latest big trip was the TMB in July and these are the only pants he will wear. He finds them so comfortable and easy to wear as well as being showerproof. Well worth the money.

I have had the original Base Jump pants for several years now, and use them for everything from walking, climbing and mountain biking, to kayaking (under a drysuit) to cross country skiing, ski touring and easy winter climbing, with a pair of tights underneath if required.
They're fantastic; I always seem to be at the right temperature, they dry fast and are showing no signs of wear despite tons of abuse (the reinforced seat and ankles must help).
If you want one pair of trousers to do pretty much everything, then here they are.

I have the original 'Base Jump Pants' version, and they are fantastic Winter pants for cragging, walking, and mountaineering. Very stretchy (ideal for just after Christmas ;) they are warm and hard-wearing.
A lack of side vents, and the black colour, means they will be a bit too hot for most Summer Alpine use.
