Mammut Alugator Superlight
£40.00
The Mammut Alugator Superlight is their lightest aluminium shovel and one of the lightest metal bladed shovels on the market. At Facewest we only stock metal bladed shovels as we do not feel that Plastic (lexan) bladed tools are durable enough or dig well enough to be relied upon in an emergency scenario. The Alugator digs really well thanks to a stiff triangular shaft and tough, low profile blade with a sharpened edge. This makes a great choice for ski tourers and mountaineers looking to save weight without compromising safety.

Mammut Alugator Superlight Review
Reviewer: Ben, Newcastle Upon Tyne (20-12-2010)
Very good shovel. It is easier to pack than the BCA tour shovel as the shaft section does not stick out. The blade is well angled and is good when shovelling large volumes of snow. It is noticeable that the BCA tour shovel is slightly better when cutting blocks out of hard compacted snow for example when digging pits. This is probably due to the angle difference in the blades. Most of the weight is in the blade giving a very light handle. Overall a good shovel that packs very well.
