MSR Blacklite Gourmet Cookset £39.00

The Blacklite range from MSR is non stock aluminum cookware. Aluminium is very lightweight so this cookware range is excellent for hikers and cyclists. The blacklite coating is non stick and easy to clean. The coating is not as tough as the hard anodised non stick of the duralite but is much better value and suited to those who will not use their cookware every weekend but want non stick when they do.
Ideal for backpacking, trekking and cycle touring.

The gourmet cookset is for those that cook a good spread when out and about.

The packtowl is a super lightweight travelling towel that can absorb a litre of water and then be wrung out to be 90% dry. It should be placed between to pots to stop them scratching themselves in the event of a rough journey.

MSR Blacklite Gourmet Cookset Review

We purchased this cookset along with the MSR Kitchen set for a week long trek along the West Highland Way in Scotland. In terms of cooking performance, the pans served their purpose very nicely as we were able to prepare a range of food/hot drinks without any drama. Due to the non-stick coating, the pans were extremely easy to clean afterwards. The cookset does come with only one small towel which was placed (as directed) between the two pans to prevent abrasion. The non-stick surface is quite fragile and our frying pan did become scratched by the large pan during transit - if you are planning to purchase this cookset, we recommend that you put a piece of cloth/kitchen roll between these pans to prevent this from happening. The MSR Kitchen set fits inside the cookset and is a great space saving solution - again, we recommend placing cloth/kitchen roll between Kitchen set and pan to prevent scratching of non-stick surface. The Blacklite set is great for occasional use however, the scratching was a bit of an issue for us - with the benefit of hindsight, we would probably have spent a bit more and bought the MSR Duralite Gourmet Cookset instead.
