MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set Review

Mint pot set. Purchased this set for hiking for two, maybe three people. Great versatility, with one smaller pot suitable for smaller meals, and the larger pot great for when you are a bit hungry and looking to cook a bit more.
On the whole great quality, however the gripping handle was a bit bent (soft aluminium?), but a wee bit of bending it came out good as new. I presume this occurred during shipping?

MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set Review

I bought this item as one of my first pieces of gear when I started backpacking for the first time. I have personally found stainless steel cookware to be too heavy for backpacking and have recently converted to titanium.
For the correct application, however, stainless steel is much more durable and cost effective where the weight is not much of an issue. The cookware is not too thick or thin and MSR has nicely rolled the edges. This makes the pots resist deforming into odd oval shapes and it handles securely with the PanHandler.
One flaw is that if the pans are heavy with water and you use the PanHandler to hold it, the PanHandler's two front 'teeth' can bend. With time, the pressure required to maintain a particular hold increases. The 'teeth', however can easily be bent back with pliers.
The lid can double as a pan. The stuff sack is half mesh which is great if your cookware is wet and needs drying.

I ordered recently this set of pots, because it’s time for some special multi-day ascents. I always like the way my friends in FACEWEST are packaging my orders! Really strong packages, for miles of transfer!
This set of pots, is suitable to melt big quantities of snow, during winter adventures. Easy cleaning and well made handle. Suitable for 2-3 people, but be careful, it’s better to use stoves with big base, to avoid the danger of dropping (but if you use a stove with small base, it’s better to hold the pot, while cooking). Big advantage, you can put inside the pots not only the gas cylinder and stove, but also amounts of food.

MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set Review

I ordered this 2 pot set and it arrived very promptly from Face West. The pots are very well made, strong enough to take the usual battering camping gear endures but light enough to take everywhere with you. The lid fits both pans very securely and doubles as a solid plate. The removable handle is handy as it minimises the potential "trip" hazard associated with permanent pot handles but attaches very securely to each pot and the plate as well. The solid stainless is easy to clean too.
The set also comes with a close fitting mesh bag which keeps everything together neatly. When the bigger pot is full and sitting on top of the MSR pocket rocket stove it is a bit top heavy, however I usually dig a small hole to "house" the base of the gas canister which helps to stabilise the whole lot! Overall a highly recommended 2 pot set.

MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set Review

I bought these pots around 2 years ago, and have used them on many an occation. Having the 2 pots and 1 lid makes this set vary versatile, When hiking by myself I usually take the lid and one pot, but have also used this set to cater for 4.
The set is fairly lightweight and the multiple uses of the lid save space; the lid can be used as a plate, a lid for either pot or a saucepan in its own right. In addition, the lid can be placed either way up on the pots, this means it can be used to heat water whilst acting as a lid. The handle is lightweight and securely fits all 3 parts.
