La Sportiva Katana

The La Sportiva Katana can probably be best described as an all round technical climbing shoe. It has many attributes and it lends it's self to days on the mountain crags as it does to an afternoon bouldering. This is partially down to it's 'medium' fit which allows for a good mix of foot shapes.
4mm of XS-Edge rubber combined with a midsole that has a prehensile area under the toe, gives the climber a sensitive platform on which to climb that has an uncompromising grip. The suede upper is blended with a synthetic material and lined, this prevents the shoe from stretching so you know from day one how the shoe is going to fit and perform. The upper is held securely closed by two opposing Velcro straps on each shoe.

These pair of shoes are for advanced climbers. They do expand, and expand quite a lot after several months of use. The fit of them are for narrow feet. The rubber is not thick, so smaller features can be used, but at the expense of durability; mine was worn out after half a year of weekly twice use.

Very good all round climbing shoe. Comfortable for prolonged use. Velcro provides a secure fastening and makes it easy to get on and off. As you expect top quality rubber which is hard wearing and sticky. Don’t really seem to stretch much. They tend to fit at least a size smaller than your normal size. Might be a bit more expensive than other brands but I have found them much better than many cheaper shoes.
