The La Sportiva Bushido is a super light off road shoe providing excellent grip from the sticky rubber compound and stability through the midsole of the shoe via the TPU frame. The uppers are predominately constructed from fast wicking and very breathable mesh. This allows your feet to cool quickly on warmer days and water to drain quickly in the wet.
FriXion XT rubber is a dual rubber providing durability as well as outstanding grip on rough terrain. The rubber has been moulded to form the La Sportiva Impact Brake, ensuring each lug gives enhanced shock absorption as well as being shaped to provide maximum traction and excellent breaking. The lugs are also compatible with AT Grip Spikes, so on icy days you can still be assured of grip.
The TPU frame is on the side of the uppers and is connected to the mid sole. When the Bushido laces are pulled tight the frame provides security binding the foot to the shoe with out any effect on flexibility or performance. Overall a technically lightweight shoe with superb grip and fit.

I've started to turn my focus from mountain biking to running lately due to time restraints but I've also entered various off road events, one of these being Tough Mudder.
Even though I live in the heart of the Peak District I didn't want a shoe as full on as Inov8 talon or Salomon speedcross, although they are great shoes they are designed to gain traction in gnarly muddy conditions. However I wanted a shoe which is a jack of all trades.
I've been running in the La Sportiva Bushido only for a couple of weeks and have got on with the shoe brilliantly. Running on terrain from Tarmac to trail and fells, this shoe lets me do them all. As the Bushido has a rock plate it makes the shoe a little stiff but not too bad. My confidence grew the more I wore the shoe due to its stability and the dual compound rubber which helped achieve the grip I needed. Of course ii you find yourself in thick mud your going to slip but I was pleasantly surprised how well it coped with most conditions. The Bushido won't be for everyone, it's classed as a performance fit which basically means a snug fit, I would say its ideal if you have long narrow feet.
Having owned several pairs of inov8 roclites and numerous road shoes, I wanted something "in between" which could cope with sections of trail, dirt roads and canal tow paths. The La Sportiva Bushido certainly copes with all that and more, close fit, balanced cushioning and traction, good ventilation and not too heavy. The rubber toe bumper incorporated into the shoe is a great idea too. The Bushido is a quite low volume, so if you have a broad foot, might not be the right trail shoe for you.
