The Kahtoola MTN Step In Snowshoes use a unique binding system which combines an eight point walking crampon and the snowshoe for ultimate versatility.

The Kahtoola Skyhook system is a walking crampon that attaches to your shoe with a flexible binding. This walking crampon then 'docks' with the snowshoe with a simple step in movement. To remove the shoe either unclick the crampon and walk with that or undo the binding and leave the crampon attached to the shoe. A fantastic feature in rocky terrain where you may be walking on thinly covered or uncovered rocks where you do not need the float of the snowshoe but need the grip of a crampon. As snow cover deepens you can click into the snowshoe frames for extra float. This negates the necessity to carry snowshoes and crampons in most terrain and improves security as you are less likely to persist with the frames when they are a hinderence because it is so easy to change. Another advantage to separating the binding from the snowshoe is that the shoes now stack completely flat and are very easy to put on your pack.

The MTN snoeshoes use an aluminium frame with a tough fabric deck which will remain durable even at exceptionally low temperatures.
